Krishnamurthy is a painter born in Kaveripompattinam in Tamil Nadu. He studied at the Government College of Arts and Crafts in Chennai and secured a first class and first rank in fine arts. He later studied Frescoes at the Banasthali Vidyapeeth in Rajasthan. He has exhibited in group shows and in one man shows in all the major Indian cities. He has also participated in numerous camps for graphics, painting and the theatre. Krishnamoorthy has also won many awards for his talents. He has won the State Lalit Kala Academy prize three times and National Awards for art direction for the films "Madhuvacharya" and "Oru vadakkan veera katha". Further, he has won the Kerala State Awards for six films. He has worked as art director for over sixty films. In the theatre he worked as art director and as costume designer in Bharath Bhavan, Bhopal. He has also produced and directed Tamil plays in Kothu Pattarai. At the present Krishnamurthy is busy painting and working for films.
