"In my work, I seek two parallel quests: one is the achievement of pure plastic order, form order and the other relates to Nature. My series titled "BIOMORPHIC FORMS" or images (patterns of growth progress) are in evolution. The idiom of form imposes its own innate logic, revealing infinite variations and mutations, as in Nature. The mysteries of nature forms are realized with colour, light and space perceptions."

The Cholamandal Artist is an Alumni of the Govt. College of Arts and Crafts, Madras. He participated in numerous Art camps and workshops. He represented India as the Commissioner for the International Painting Festival at Cagnes-Sur-Mer, France (1990). Along with several group shows between 1967 and 1996 he was invited to the Kala Yathra Shows at New Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta, Madras and in Malaysia & Singapore (1979); to the Asia and Pacific Museum, Poland (1985); to the ICCR Exhibition of Cholamandal Artists Village in Morocco (1985); 8th International Biennial of Art at Valparaiso, Chile (1987); Indiase Moderne Kunst, Kasteel at Arcen, Holland (1989); 22nd International Festival of Painting at Cagnes-Sur-Mur, France (1990); RIMBAUD-91 by the Alliance Francaise,Madras & Besancon, France; International Biennale of Prints at Bharath Bhavan, Bhopal (1995); "Art for Heart's Sake" Sotheby's Auction (1995); "Art for Hope-Hope for Cancer", an All-India Exhibition of Contemporary Art in Tapestry by Max Mueller Bhavan, Madras (1996).

Style

Biomorphic images, the sea, corals - a yellow submarine of joy. Gopi works both on canvas and paper. His new small format acrylic works are a real bargain.
